Principal

Kirby Date, AICP, is a certified community planner, and principal of KM Date Community Planning, LLC, a community planning and decision support consultancy. 

Ms. Date’s areas of expertise include comprehensive planning and community engagement, and decision support technical studies in economic, fiscal, retail and market analysis, housing, and code review.  She was the local government outreach planner for Countryside Program in Northeast Ohio from 1996 to 2006, and for the Ohio Balanced Growth Program from 2006 to 2016.  From 2006 to 2021, she was a member of the professional staff of the Center for Community Planning and Development at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, Cleveland State University. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Ms. Date holds a BS in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University, and an MS in Urban Studies, Community and Neighborhood Development focus, from Cleveland State University.  She is the author/editor of Best Local Land Use Practices, a suite of policy tools and resources for Ohio communities based on the Ohio Balanced Growth Program’s web site
